The Asian Games are an international multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from Asia. Aichi-Nagoya 2026 is the 20th edition of the Games and will be hosted by Japan for the third time, following Tokyo in 1958 and Hiroshima in 1994.
Throughout the 2026 Asian Games, the Land of the Rising Sun will pulsate with energy and athleticism as competitors from across the continent showcase their talent in an exhilarating celebration of sport. From the speed of track and field to the precision of martial arts, these Asian Games will be a thrilling display of sporting prowess.
With the Olympics less than three years away, this is an important time for us to strengthen our partnership and show our continued commitment to the Olympic Movement, and to making it more inclusive for all. We will work together to ensure the success of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, enabling athletes and fans from across the globe to enjoy this event at its best.
A contingency plan for evacuation of athletes in case of a tsunami, typhoon or natural disaster has been drawn up by the Organising Committee, two senior Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) officials told The Indian Express last month. The 45 nations and regions based in the Asian Games have been briefed on the plans during a Coordination Committee meeting in Nagoya.
