For two weeks late in August, the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens becomes the center of the world’s tennis universe. The US Open is the last Grand Slam of the season and the final opportunity for players to earn one of the sport’s four major titles. The tournament has evolved into a sports and pop culture extravaganza as well, with special musical acts, events for kids, food vendors, and other entertainment on the grounds of the old 1964 World’s Fair site.
The 2025 US Open takes advantage of a new schedule format that allows the main tournament to span 15 days instead of just two, with Round 1 being spread over three days rather than the traditional two. This change makes more matches available for fans, and it gives players a day off between each round.
It also means that top players like Jannik Sinner, Aryna Sabalenka, Ekaterina Alexandrova, Iga Swiatek, and Coco Gauff will be able to play all the way through to the final rounds without missing a single match, allowing them to show their best form in front of packed stadiums.
Tip #9: Be sure to check out the practice schedule (online and app) before you go so you know when/where players are practicing. This will help you avoid the most crowded areas. Tip #10: If you have tickets for both a day and night session (Ashe or Armstrong) on the same day, you will not need to exit the US Open grounds and re-enter. Your ticket will be re-checked when you enter the respective stadium.
