The Asian Games are the biggest sports competition in Asia, a four-yearly event that hosts 45 nations and regions. The 2026 edition will be held around Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya from 19 September to 4 October, with the city serving as its hub. The games will feature a mixture of unique Asian sports such as kabaddi and sepak takraw alongside traditional Olympic disciplines like athletics. Esports will also make their Asian Games debut, and cricket is set to return after a century away from the summer Olympic program.
The 2026 Asian Games will be the third time that Japan has hosted the event, after Tokyo in 1958 and Hiroshima in 1994. The opening and closing ceremonies will be held at the city’s Mizuho Athletic Stadium, which has been revamped to a capacity of 35,000.
The Organizing Committee will provide comprehensive transportation services to help athletes and visitors reach competition venues safely and conveniently. In addition to JR lines, the Aichi-Nagoya Organising Committee will work with local transport service providers such as Kintetsu Railway and Meitetsu Railway to ensure smooth travels for participants and spectators.
The Aichi-Nagoya Organizing Committee has launched a website for fans to follow the Games, with information on tickets, venues and more. The site is available in both Japanese and English. Organizers are also working on social media and other marketing initiatives to promote the event in the region. In addition to the official site, Aichi-Nagoya has a dedicated YouTube channel.
